Lighting Design.
One of my favorite aspects of the theatre production world is that everyone seems to pick up every skillset at some point in their careers, and I enjoy getting to learn so many varied things as I continue to work in the industry. Breaking into lighting design has been inspiring for me and I’ve learned so much about the design and technical process through my creative lighting efforts both in class and on set.

The Process.
Lighting design has been a great discipline for teaching me the value of completely open experimentation and constant iteration.
A lot of the ideas present in this first draft are completely scrapped by the final, even ones that I had an attachment to, but since it was so easy to try any idea I had, I kept finding more and more interesting ways to express my ideas.
This is also one of my most successful experiences with peer and professor feedback. The feedback I got was well communicated and objective, and implementing changes based on it made a much more coherent show.
